PortraitWorks Basic Foundry Module
The fastest easiest way to get portraits & tokens for PCs and NPCs!
PortraitWorks™ Basic is now available as a free Add-on Module for FoundryVTT.
Once you install the PortraitWorks Basic module in your server, you and your players will have access to over a thousand character portraits and tokens from PortraitWorks — without even clicking out of Foundry.
Of course If you’d like access to all the art and features of PortraitWorks, including editing every aspect of a portrait, the full version is available as a mobile app.
Foundry Virtual Tabletop provides an innovative online role-playing experience. It supports Windows, Mac, and Linux, and allows you to self-host a game server that players connect to for free via web browser.
Installing the module
Note: these instructions should work on your own server, or most hosted servers including FoundryServer. We have not yet tested on The Forge, so your mileage may vary there.
Open your FoundryVTT application
Go to the "Add-on Modules" Tab
Click the "Install Module" button
Copy this into the "Manifest URL" section: https://portraitworks-basic.s3.amazonaws.com/FoundryModule1.0/module.json
Click Install. After a few seconds the module should be installed.
Using the module
First enable the module within any compatible world (Game Settings -> Manage Modules).
You can now access the PortraitWorks dialog from a number of locations:
the PortraitWorks button at the top of any Actor sheet
the PortraitWorks button within any Image Picker dialog
clicking any portrait image within an Actor sheet (this behavior can be toggled in Module Settings)
Note: If you are running Foundry via The Forge — you may need to temporarily pause ad blockers for that tab to see it operating correctly.
Questions?
If you are running into any issues with the PortraitWorks module for Foundry, an important first step is to make sure your server is working correctly.
